Every five years, Auxiliary Services and Procurement and Business Services reevaluate our secondary preferred caterers and extend five-year contracts to selected catering finalists. The process for 2016-2020 is currently underway and we need the ECN's help in identifying potential caterers.
In the next few weeks, we will send you a separate email, outlining instructions for the RFP (request for proposal) process. If you have a caterer whom you believe Georgia Tech should work with, and you believe they can fulfill the obligations outlined, you'll have an opportunity to reach out to them directly to encourage them to participate in the bidding process.
Once all the proposals have been completed (approximately one month after the process goes live), a committee consisting of members from Auxiliary Services, Procurement and Business Services, and the Event Coordinators' Network will review preliminary proposals and determine those who should continue in the bidding process. Potential caterers will be invited to campus to showcase their abilities and a final list of caterers will be determined close to the end of the fiscal year. The ECN plans to work in close contact with Auxiliary Services to produce a catering showcase for all of the ECN and campus in August.
Based on direct feedback from the ECN, the committee hopes to be able to expand the options of secondary caterers, providing more diversity in offerings and pricing options. Please note that this process does not apply to GT Catering, our primary caterer, nor the Tech Square restaurants.
